Hi! I am 26, expecting my first son in June and work on my feet all day too. I'm a teacher. I have had a wonderful pregnancy (minus all the aches and pains that go along with it). I would be careful so that you don't hurt yourself and have to go on bed rest unitl your baby is born. My doc. told me to purchase a pregnancy girdle to wear under my clothes for all of my lower back/pelvic area aches. Although I don't wear it everyday, I do notice a huge difference when I do. Best of luck and take it easy. Now is definitely the time to be selfish!

Hi I am 29 yrs old and 26 weeks pregnant with my first. I work as a vet assistant and am always on my feet with no time for breaks and usually pinning large dogs to the floor or carry heavy items, I work eight and a half hour days 5 days a week.

I find long warm baths and back rubs form my hubby help with the back pain, and just taking it slow when lifting. Have not spoken to my Doc as worried they will tell me to stop, but i can't its all part of the job and there is already so much i can't do.

would love to hear of any other tips for all the aches and pains.

I am 33 weeks and work as a Bank teller so I am constantly on my feet. We do have stools available to use but they don't offer a whole lot of relief. I was put off work yesterday due to swelling in my legs and feet which made it painful to be on them all day.

I would not be lifting that door by yourself. It's unsafe and puts you and your baby at risk. You are allowed to refuse unsafe work practices as such and can not be penalized for it. you should also not be going up any ladders because your balance is off and your joints are loose when you are pregnant.

I was working as a full time house cleaner, which was enjoyable since I could make my own schedual, and choose my own clients. Around 5 months into my pregnancy I reduced my work load, cut back on clients, and worked only 4 days a week. but by the time I passed my 7th month I realized the work was getting too hard. I started having braxton-hicks contraction, occasional dizziness. So I stopped working. I'm expecting in 5 weeks, in pregnancy is going wonderfully. I spend my time at home organizing and preparing things I know I won't have time for after the baby comes. and most of all I rest when I'm tired, and take care of myself, in preparation for the big day!

I am a fulltime nurse so I am on my feet all the time. However,,I do allow myslef some resting time when I am charting. I tend to put my feet up and I dont do any lifting anymore. I do help the aides turn the residents or pull them up in bed, but I dont want to risk harming the baby and I think that if you work somewhere and they dont understand that you are pregnant and need more breaks...its not worth the job!! I know we all have to work but it is really hard on a baby to lift all the time...it could cause some serious things to happen..such as placenta previa, tear your uterus, cause early labor...there are many factors...besides you are carrying a lot more weight in the front which puts pressure on your back...so you dont want to riskk injuring yourself. I dont plan on working all the way to week 40..i think it is better to stop working when your body wont allow it anymore. Give yourself some time to rest and prepare for the baby. We are ALL going to need it!!

I am 33 weeks pregnant and wait tables. I stand up for 8 to 10 hours a day. It makes me physically miserable. I don't know how much is too much or when I should stop working. I hear so many different things. And I don't just want to sit around all the time if i stop working..i would feel so lazy. :( But I also want a healthy baby. I dont know what to do!

So...I'm almost 23 weeks and my whole pregnancy I've worked as a retail assistant manager, 40 hours a week, and I can't sit down. I also lift the gate to the store by myself 2 or 3 times a shift; I think it's at least 30 pounds...

The back pain keeps getting worse. I have short term disability and contemplating when I should start it.

So...just wondering if any of you are working in these conditions or what you think...or your doc's have said ?
