Hahaha, that's awesome. The first word is always amazing. Unfortunately, my daughter's first word was da-da. LOL. her first REAL word, that wasn't mama or dada, was duck. I just about peed my pants when she was in the tub and she said duck plain as day. It was crazy. I love being a mom!

ok, so, not to be partial to the mommys BUT i have read that dada is easier to say. hope that makes you feel better!! do you all consider the first word to be whatever is uttered or when baby knows that the word relates to a person or object? we are kind of waiting until we know that she knows she's saying it and not babbling. just curious what everyone else does. last night was the first time that i have not been there to kiss my baby goodnight and i really think that when she woke up about 1AM and saw me she said mama. but, i have to wait and let it happen again to believe it for sure. lol (she is 8mos old by the way)

My daugther's first word was Dada, and I must say that I was somewhat disappointed! I thought for sure that I would savor the moment where I would hear her jubilantly calling me, but it was her dad who won! She says it all of the time. She was around 5 months when she first said it, and it was really amazing. I was changing her diaper on her changing table, and she said it and started to repeat it several times. I haven't caught her on video saying it yet, so hopefully I will.
