There shouldn't be a problem with haveing another so soon (my sister and I are only 11months apart) so i know you can get pregnant again right away with out a problem ( you should still talk to your Dr.) and if you have another thats the same sex then they just share everything. So good luck and have fun

I would wait at least a year. But here is something to think about. your babies still young has to be held; holding a 20 pound or more baby while your out to here pregnant is going to be rough on your back. just a thought.

It is highly recommended by the medical community to wait at least one year, so your body can have a chance to heal.

I also think its better to wait atleast a year! i think 4 1/2 months is just too early.
that's what we are planing to do! Our first born is 6 months now, and we are planing to try to get pregnant again this summer! I and my brother were year and 9 months apart and it were perfect! and still are perfect :)
Good luck on whatever you chose to do

I think part of the reason people want to have another child so soon is because the glow of the first child is still there. I too wanted my kids close together- 2 years apart. (A year to heal my body and then 9 months for the baby). So far my son is 19 months and we are trying to get pregnant again for a while now.

However, my doctor told me that the sooner you get pregnant after having just had a child, the higher your chances of a miscarriage are. Just a thought to keep in mind.

I know people have children close to gether all the time - without such heartbreak. My husband and his brother are 1 year and 2 weeks apart- not planned. Their mother said it was very difficult and has yo-yo'd on her weight ever since. Just other things to keep in mind.

One last thing, I think its great to watch my son discover every tiny new thing. I worried that having them too close together i would miss those magic moments with my second child if the first was trying to vie for all my attention. I am determined not to let this happen, but also something to think about.

Good luck however it turns out! :)

I've have always heard that everyone should wait a year to become pregnant again . Your body needs that long for the hormones to normalize plus babies can use up your nutrients so your body needs to adjust

Congrats to you on your new baby. I am in the same boat as you are. Currently I am pregnant with our first child, a girl due in April. However it took us over 3 years to conceive. I'm in my mid-30's and not getting any younger. I'd like to have at least 2 children, possibly 3. I have 2 sisters that are 11 months apart. I see their closeness and hope I could give that sort of relationship to my kids growing up. Remember you're not alone in your search for answers. Great question, by the way and a lot of great suggestions.

"Congrads on your new baby!!! Kudos 2 you for thinking first-unlike me. My daughter is in labor as i type this she is 1 year 2 weeks younger than my son. They are/were extremely close until they hit their terrible teens when both turned into alien monsters & there were many times I thought they were going to kill each other."

I read this and I had to laugh, not because of what you went through, but because this sounds so much like my brother and I. LOL. There were times I thought we were going to kill each other. And we're almost 3 years apart. That's just sibling rivalry :^O

I had planned to have my babies about 18 months apart. Like you, I wanted them really close together. I got my wish, but let me tell you, it was a LOT sooner than planned! LOL. My son was born Nov 13th 2007 and my daughter Nov 21st 2008. They are one year and 8 days apart. Both cesarean births too.

As far as it being hard on your body, it is. I was exhausted during the second pregnancy, as I got pregnant when my son was just about 3 months old. But everyone is different and honestly, I wouldn't have done it any other way. I feel like now I have my family, I got all the pregnancy stuff out of the way and I can just focus on raising my two little angels.

I don't find that there's jealousy issues at all. My son is extremely independent, and while he's a "mommy's boy", he's more than happy to sit with daddy and watch mommy feed and change his little sister without any upset. I think he was too young to even understand jealousy.

My neice and nephew are 18 months apart and I see a HUGE difference between the way my brother's oldest and my oldest act towards the younger sibling. Abby (25 months) is CONSTANTLY screaming for mom's attention when she's holding Dalton (7 months) and has even tried to pull him out of her arms. It makes me relieved to have had the pregnancy happen when it did. I don't know how I would handle it if my two were like that.

It may have a lot to do with individual child personalities as well though, and the way you handle it when they start to act out.

Honestly, everyone can give you a different story. Some love them close, others think it's crazy. Take a look at your first. Is she calm and laid back, doesn't cry much, content to sit on her own for long periods of time? That's how my son was. He didn't need me holding him every waking hour like some newborns do. He was often wide awake, sitting in his swing or cradle just watching the world aroung him, not making a sound. He wouldn't even take a pacifier after a month and a half. I may have been lucky and that's why I have it so easy with two this close, but in my opinion, it's the best way for them to be!

Talk to your OB. They will usually tell you to wait a year for health reasons, but if you're absolutely intent on it, just ask if he/she thinks YOU are in good enough shape to try it.

Other than that, I'd say just go with your gut. If you think it's a good idea and you really want to go for it, then go for it.

Hi! We felt the same way you guys feel. We wanted to have our kids close together and now our daughter is 14mo. and I am not pregnant. I got to thinking that as much as I would like to have another soon, i'd also like my time with her as well. I want to beable to remember which child did what and to not confuse the memories by having them so close together. Also for her sake I feel like she should have time with us and then add another. We are considering making a new life in about 6mo. I also didn't want to be having a baby in the upcoming summer when my daughter was really going to start having fun in the sun. I want to enjoy that with her, not be stuck inside with a new born and a toddler. Just my thoughts. I also believe that you know what is best for you and your family, just don't rush throught one baby to get to the next. Enjoy her now. This past 14 months has been the best and the fastest. Take your time and enjoy what you have now.

Hi! My name is Kimberly. I think you should go ahead and concieve another child right now even though the economy is what it is. When you have a baby then probably the economy wouldn't be so bad anyway. My kids are seven years apart and I'm on my third child already. My dauhjter is nine and half years old and my son is two years old, so my son and this baby is going to be twoyears apart and I'm just fine with that at least I know that my son will have a playmate to play with when the baby grows up. So I think it's a good idea.

I say follow your heart and remember God knows best and will not put more on you than you can bare. I have four kids 6, 4, 2, and 10 months, and currently pregnant with my fifth. It's hard but I love it because I have two in school and two at home but they're all a joy to be around. Bless you and your family no matter what happens G.od Loves You
