You need to put nothing but water in it, if he falls asleep with it. Anything other then that will ause cavaties. The water will be something he can drink if that is why ne wants his bottle and the water will not hurt his teeth. -- Now that I am a mother I have found that raising a baby is all common sense. We have started weaning our 17 month old from the bottle, and his pediatrician recomended first replacing cups at meals, and at the least favorite times...READ: not bedtime or naptime. Once your son accepts the cup at all other times, start phasing out the naptime bottle. Last to go is the bedtime one...and we are not there yet LOL!!! But, Mikey will sit on my lap and drink his milk from the sippy before I lay him down for his nap, so hopefully, bedtime sans bottle will be accomplished very soon. I hope I helped...a little anyway

I would put something in it he don't like and maybe that would make him not want it. My son gave up the breast at 10 1/2 months. He really didn't like the bottle all that much. So he graduated to sippy cups as soon as he was off the breast. Another thing you may try is finding a character he really likes and get a sippy with it on there. He'll be excited to drink from it and you can put his fave drink in it too. That wouldn't hurt anything. Good luck. Sorry i'm not much help. My son was an easy baby. And so far an easy toddler. I hope he stays that way. Baby # will probley be the oppisite for me. Lol. My son just turned 1 and we are going to start weaning him from the bottle soon. Whats the best way to do this when he is highly dependant on it? Especially needs it when he is going to sleep.
