This is my first baby too. I'm 25. He is due October 26. This pregnancy has been very uncomfortable for me. In the first trimester I couldn't do anything but sleep and I was constantly nauseated. Now I'm about to begin the third trimester and my feet hurt so bad. I've only gained 16 pounds but I'm almost sure most of that is water weight because my feet and ankles swell. There is also alot of general swelling on the rest of my body and unfortunately in my face. The doctor said not to eat salt. I don't eat alot of salt. I don't even drink soda. Now they think I probably have gestational diabetes. I get the definitive diagnosis tomorrow after a 4 hour test. I can't wait till my precious baby boy comes though. I think all the pain will be well worth it.

I am a first timer, almost 9 weeks along. I seem to be in the throughs of 1st trimester symptoms- heart burn, nausea (usually in the afternoon and especially at night), and tiredness. Because of these, I am failing to see this as the "miracle within" like everyone else calls it. What I hate even more is that when people find out, they say things like "I thought so" then look at my belly. I'm not showing yet. I'm just chubby. One coworker actually said she "didn't think you'd just let yourself go like that". Any strong opinions out there regarding the benefits of finding out the gender or waiting for a suprise?

Hello Carley! This is my first time on the site and your message caught my attention immediately. I am due in October as well. But this is my second child although I don't remember much of the first pregnancy (it happened 11 years ago - I was 20 then) I recall that I didn't have many people around to talk about my new experiences. I didn't have epidural either, my labor lasted 6 hours with lots of pain, but at the end the result was extraodinary. I had a almost 8 pound little girl who is now almost 12. I am now 26 weeks of my second pregnancy and as well as you did, had the symptoms very early (by the fifth week - unbelievable) all-day sickness, low blood pressure, headaches, tiredness... The hormonal discharge during pregnancy is different to everyone of us and your body reacts to it differently as well. It is normal to be emotional and scared. It is your first time. My second time and I have so many mood swings that sometimes I am afraid of myself. The prenatal courses are a good way to meet other women who are expecting. During these sessions they show sometimes how labor can go wrong in order to give you self confidence because unfortunately things don't come up always as we expect and you need to keep focused and don't panic. But you don't have to worry. You will have with you very qualified doctors and nurses who are experienced and know what to do. One last thing: You have the choice to have the epidural injection, (ME myself, I refuse to have it). If you don't want to, you just have to advise your doctor. Giving birth is a natural process and it also varies from one woman to another (some spend many many hours in pain, others deliver in a blink of an eye). Just stay calm and think about your baby and you will see that everything is going to be just fine!! Happy pregnancy!

HI! I'm a first timer as well, and expecting baby any day now (he is due on July 16). Both my husband and I are so excited and can't wait to see and hold him for the first time. I love being pregnant, I never felt so good in my life. I had no morning sickness, I gained only 15lbs, I enjoyed every minute of being pregnant. However, what I really didn't like is the attention from the strangers. Especially, I didn't care for people touching my stomach! I hate it when strangers touch me when I'm not pregnant, imagine how I felt once I was pregnant! I literally had to slap a few hands off of my stomach! Also, why is everyone thinks that they should give you advice on what to do, when you don't ask for it? Is it just me? I find it very annoying! I wish people would just mind their own business? It seems to me that women become public property once people see that they are expecting! All and all, this is an amazing experience! Just to feel that baby move brought me to tears of happiness. I can't wait for my son to be born, I can't wait to spoil him with all the love I have. I think it is going to be even more amazing once he is here! Much love to everyone, Good Luck!

This is also my first pregnancy, I'm due the end of October. This is definitely an experience!!! I started out kind of rocky during my 1st trimester, I was sick, and I couldn't eat drink or smell a lot of my fav foods,It was annoying. I also had a lot of break downs, stupid ones @ that. I remember fixing me a turkey sandwich, now b4 I became prego, turkey sandwiches were my fav, but that day I couldn't eat it, the smell & taste literally grossed me out, so I didn't want to throw away a perfectly good sandwich, so I tried to give it to my husband and he didn't want, do u kno I had a full out tantrum, its embarrassing talking about it. Anyway I'm 23 weeks now and doing a lot better in the 2nd trimester hopefully it gets better in the 3rd. Were having a baby girl that stays moving, she is so active!!!!We cant wait to see her little face in the flesh.

I just hit 16 weeks last Saturday. Ive been totally lucky throughout all of this, no sickness or crazy hormones for my hubby to deal with. Good luck to everyone through their labor!

I am also having my first baby!! Due in early Sept.....SO excited. I had crazy morning sickeness for the first 4 months but seeing her at the first ulrasound and then feeling her start to kick at 22 weeks...made all the barfing soooo worth it! Unfortunately, it seems I have what the doctors call a irritable uterus and started having contractions at 22 weeks....bad news...but after my midwife pulled me from work, the rest has done wonders and now I'm feeling great at 30 weeks!! Not scared about labour at all.....I know it's gonna hurt and I figure being tense and nervous isn't going to make it any easier We women are super heros....this is what our bodies do best! Now it's just the wait for my little girl to arrive.....I had a 3D Ultrasound two weeks ago and seeing her was amazing......yawning, chewing on her fingers, frowning.......I am SO IN LOVE!!! Good luck to all you mommies!!

This is my first pregnancy and I just turned 22 weeks today and I'm so emotional it's not even funny! Everything has gone by pretty normal except they had to put me on medicine to gain weight and I'm just starting to show. It's tough cause I don't know anyone around here that is pregnant and knows all the ups and downs and the changes you go through. I had all the symptoms from the begining so yay me and I found out relatively early that I was pregnant. I'm due in October and i'm super scared about getting an epidural needles going in my back just does not suit me. -- Why be negative when you can be positive.

Hi everyone! This is also my first time having a baby. I am 10 weeks and I am very scared. This has been a struggle for me cause I have all the symptoms...from ALL DAY sickness to back pain and knee pain...the whole 9 yards. I hate the fact that I cant sometimes eat what I want because it makes me sooo sick. Im excited about having a child but afraid of what is to come during labor...due to so many delivery stories I have heard. Im already coming out of my clothes, not really showing yet but I have seen the change in how tight my jeans have gotten and how big my breast are getting.

Hi! I'm also a first timer. Due November 19. So far everthing has been pretty good, but I am getting frustrated with the cloths situation. When I finally made the switch to maternity cloths everyone was like, wow you are huge! That makes you feel good!

I am a first time mom as well. I am due in Nov. 17 weeks today!!! But as far as how I'm feeling goes.....well I have my good days and my bad days. Recently its been more good than bad. No more morning sickness thank goodness, and I hope yours is through too. Although I do feel out of place. I am still at the stage where people look at me and are afraid to ask if I'm pregnant or just have a belly pouch. I am inbetween clothes which really sucks but I find the bellybands to be perfect for the jeans. I hope you arent having a hard time like I am trying to get use to my growing belly.
