I actually work in an OB's office and we offer 4-D ultrasounds. The unltrasound techs say that the optimum time to have it done is between 28 and 30 weeks. And ours are 101.00, that's 100 for the ultrasound and 1$ for the dvd that last about 15 minutes.

I'm 25 weeks now and i'm having my baby shower next month and i'll be 30 weeks then, and i knew i want it done before the baby shower so i could share with everyone. The next few months are gonna be so exciting. --

I don't remember where I heard about these, but I am so glad I did! They are completely non-medical and health care doesn't cover them but I think they are SO worth it, especially for first timers! It cost us about $300 for two half hour sessions. This included the DVD of the scan as well as some still carefully chosen by the tech. We had ours at week 21 and week 31 (Week 28 is probably better...the more pregnant you get, the less effective the 3d scans are). It was a wonderful bonding experience for me to watch my daughter stretch, kick, yawn and even suck her thumb and my out of state mom and mom-in-law both loved having pictures of their granddaughter! Here are links to just some of the pictures we got: http://web.me.com/camelot/Pictures/Week_21.html http://web.me.com/camelot/Pictures/Week_31.html If you are wondering if 3-d ultrasounds are worth it, this expectant mom says, they are!!! Hope you find this helpful Meryl
