I too freaked out waiting for that first movement and I was showing pretty big from early on as well. It wasn't until well into my 5th month that my baby started moving around. She's not a violent kicker or anything but she does get pretty active at night or if I lie on my back for any reason.

There are many reasons you could not feel the movements (I'm sure by now you are) but I wouldn't worry...the thing I found most helpful was to stop reading those what to expect books because every pregnancy is different and you'll drive yourself nuts waiting to fall into the "norm"

Hi there!!!

I know it can be pretty nerve racking waiting for the first movement. With my son, now almost 7, I din't feel any movement until I was 23 weeks along!!! Let me tell you I must have bothered the doctor about this every few weeks...but they kept re-assuring me that everything would be fine. And you know what...it was!!! Once he started moving he never stopped. I remember thinking some night that it was nice to be able to fall asleep so fast just because baby wasn't constitly moving.

Congrats on baby # 2 (mine's due December 25th) and good luck with the ultrasound in a few days.

I am 20 weeks with baby #2 and I do not feel anything yet. My OB says it is fine and I am still early. I am freaking out. I can't wait to feel it! I go for my ultrasound 6/10/08. That seems like forever. I just can't believe I am showing so big and NO movement!?!?!
