my step-son will be 4 in a few days and he was just recently potty trained this summer. we had the same difficulties. we started giving him consequences. if he pottied he got a gummy worm. 1 for pee and 2 for poop. if he pottied in his pants on purpose we took away television for a day. he did really well when we enforced the rules. he looved being praised and rewarded.

I am at the end of my rope with my five year old boy! We have done the potty thing now for over two years and he still wears pull-ups. Some days he will choose to tell me when he has to go or just go on his own. Other days he will stand there and poop an pee in his pants. My 2 1/2 year old daughter is telling me when my five year old has a dirty diaper!
