Thanks for replying. You gave me some helpful info. I've been trying to drop the nursing and it doesnt seem to be working to bad. He fusses but eventually gives up and goes to sleep, which is the usual cause he hates sleeping! Afraid he's gonna miss something I guess. I wish i could do the daddy time, but unfortunately his daddy's been in Iraq for that past year, but gets to come home next month! So that'll be a big help since i'll have someone to share the responsibilities with. But so far we're going on two days without nursing at all and I thankfully havent had much pain. Thanks again for your comment!

This is an old post, I hope I can still help!! You are doing everything right so far, good job making it so long!! To drop that bed time nursing (assuming he's not nursing to sleep) I'd suggest you go out for an hour and let Daddy give him a bottle or sippy cup and put him down for the night. If you're not there you can't give in and nurse if this makes him mad. It's great daddy time to put him to bed anyway. If that's not an option, be strong and you can do it. You'll feel full for a few days, you may have to wear a bra and nursing pads to bed for a few days, but that's all there is to it. The milk will dry up and it shouldn't hurt too much. After a week or so, send daddy in with the bottle when he wakes up, or if he's growing well and you don't want that wee hours of the morning thing just snuggle with him. I found it easiest to bring Zek to bed with me, and just doze on and off till morning, in no time it'll be gone and he's start sleeping through the night. Your milk supply will just go away, it won't hurt like it would have if you hadn't nursed or tried to just go cold turkey, it's just like all the other nursings you dropped. Again great job making it for the whole year!! Good luck! -- Zek b-day: 09-10-05 Zophia b-day: 10-31-07

My baby will soon be a year old and I want him totally weaned from the breast. Right now I only nurse him at bedtime and when he wakes up in the wee hours or the morning. What's the easiest way to take the bedtime nursing away? How do I get my milk to dry up? What do I do for the pain after I quit nursing? Any comments or insight about the subject will help... THANK YOU! Carissa
