I also had to return to work at 12 weeks, but I can not pump at work b/c I am a teacher, and I am not able to pump every few hours b/c I don't have that many breaks. So I give him formula when at work and BF at night. He is doing really well.

I pumped once I went back to work with ds1 and plan on doing it again with ds2. I pumped every 3 hours at work and he never got any formula - so it is doable! I also have to go back after 12 weeks - it sucks.

Do you think she might only want to nurse at night because she is with you? Maybe if she was at Granny's she would be ok like she is during the day. Maybe you could give it a trail run with her Granny. My now 13 year old son was breastfeed and I weaned him at a year thinking that was what was suppose to happen. I have always felt bad I don't think he was ready. My girl which is now seven I let her wean herself and to my surprise around 13 months she was done with the breast. Like the other mother said some nurse up until three. I just had my thrid baby, a boy and I am nursing him as well. I will be returning to work myself in March. He will be three months old. If you don't mind sharing how was it when you returned to work. I am dreading the thought of it but have no choice right now.

Well - there is no problem wiht kids nursing until age 1 or 2 - or longer even. In fact it is recommended for kids to nurse that long. If you want to stop, go to kellymom.com and read up on weaning. Just wanted to say though that if it is going well, there is no problem with continuing.

I'm 29 and a mommy of 3 - Caleb -4yrs, Nicholai- 1yr 9mnths & Reese - 7mnths. All my children were breastfed but the boys only drank 2mnths- 3mnths then stopped and took the bottle. But with Reese I find that she is still drinking even though I'm back at work, when it comes time for me to be at home and I'm not she starts looking for it and during the night she doesn't want the bottle even thought she takes it during the day. (Which means no sleep over for her at Granny's) I think I am bit leanient with her because she's my only girl but with Caleb I stayed at home for 1yr & 6mnths and he left the breast early. I'm just concerned that she might drink until she is 1/2yrs. How do you ween her off the breast.
