i have done a lot of research on carseats and learned that the safest is one that rear faces for a long time. most people think that you should turn your baby forward facing at one year and 20 pounds just because the law says that is the minimum. it is not a requirment to forward face them. there are car seats that rear face up to 30, 35, and even 40 pounds in a 5point harness which is the safest. then when forward facing they need to stay in the 5 point harness as long as possible. some harness up to 65 to 80 pounds. so the best carseat in my opinion is one that fits your car well and rear faces a long time with a 5 point harness for higher weights. hope that helps

I bought one what went up to a 100 pounds so that we could use it for a long time. They are so expensive to have to buy so many. So we kept it backward facing until she was around 22 lbs, and now we have it forward facing. I have an Eddie Bauer that I LOVE! And no I didn't pay 200.00 for it. LOL. I got it at Big Lots for $60.00

I am going thru the same thing. Read reviews and you get so confused, what one mom absolutely loves then another mom may hate! LOL I have read so many, I want safety 1st and comfort. I have 13 yr old twins that play sports so me and baby are always on the go so I want something with lots of padding. I am considering either the Evenflo Advance (doesnt have as much comfort as the next one) and The Alpha Omega Elite from Safety 1st. They just have changed harness heigths on the Alpha Omega so it lasts longer than it used to and the padding is so plush I imagine it is very comfy for baby. Both have AWESOME safety reviews! Good Luck in choosing!

Hi. Our first born in 6 months and week old. and our car seat is for baby's up to 20 pounds, so we will have to change our car seat soon for bigger one! Question is- what is best to buy! The ones what goes up to 80 ( sometimes 100) pounds, or the ones up to 40-50 pound baby's? the ones up to 80-100 pound can be turned into booster seats. We cant figure out what would be the best!
