Becareful at the beach! Safety tips.

Remember if you are going to the beach the water isnt the only danger you need to watch for. If your child likes to dig or explore sand holes make sure you keep a close eye on them. If the hole is any deeper than the childs knees when they stand in it there is a risk that the sand can collapse and trap the child! If your child does become trapped get help! Sand is heavy and tends to fill back in as fast as you dig, but don't panic! The first thing you should do is locate where your childs face is under the sand. Use your hand to reach in and make an air pocket by clearing the sand away from their nose and mouth. Then use your hand to make a cup over their nose and mouth. Keep the hand there so the sand doesn't fall back against their face. This should provide at least some air and time to get your child dug out of the sand completely. To avoid these types of accidents from happening tell your children not to dig or play near deep sand holes. If there is a hole in the sand near you, fill it in before you set up your stuff to relax. Hopefully this will help at least a little. Then you still have to worry about the sunscreen, and keeping the kids away from jelly fish and water and etc. etc.!
