Mommies Day is comming, what do you want most?
I'd love to know what everyone wants to do/get for their mothers day. I want to have time to rest, but I also want to have some special bonding time with my two little munchkins that is not stressful! I have a little boy who will be 2yrs old in June and a baby girl who is 7months. Just waking up and seeing them smile at you makes the day so much better sometimes. Since having the kids my husband and i have almost no time to do anything quietly, so any ideas for a nice calm mothers day will be greatly appreciated! Plus, I just want to share some good ideas with other new moms!

ROCKET FUEL CHEMICAL found in powdered formula!!
Has anyone else read the story about there being rocket fuel chemicals in certain types of powdered formula that are milk based? I saw it on my home page at verizon, yahoo as a story in the news section. It's at http://health.yahoo.com/news/ap/baby_formula_perchlorate.html if you want to read it. It said that they did a study of powdered formula samples to see if there was anything contaminating or dangerous in it. THERE IS!!!
They found a chemical contained in rocket fuel (perchlorate) that was in such high levels it would be considered unsafe even for adults when mixed with tainted water (which was also found)! They would not say what brand of powdered formula they studied and they did not study how it would affect the health of the babies that drank it!!! That is so scary! Most babies in this country drink powdered, milk based formulas. If there is unsafe levels of anything, in any amount, in any of the cans of powder, I think that it should be made public immediately and pulled off of the shelves until they do know what this will do to our babies! They also found the same chemical in a great deal of drinking water in some cities water supplies that serve over 10,000 customers.
Please go to read this story, and make complaints to anyone that will listen and make a difference! The health of our babies is the most important thing in the world. If enough moms contact their formula companies asking questions maybe we can find out what is going on and make sure that the formula our babies are drinking is 100% safe once and for all! I mean, God, if this story is right and there is dangerous chemicals in powdered formula, what is it doing to a whole generation of kids! I am mad as ^#*% and I am going to do my best to find out more about this. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt like me and hopefully alert more moms to what is possibly going on with the companies we trust to feed our babies! The story broke in Atlanta, and the CDC, and EPA are investigating and releasing statements. The chemical has been known to cause thyroid problems and problems with infant and fetal brain development! READ the story! This is AWFUL! again the site is http://health.yahoo.com/news/ap/baby_formula_perchlorate.html

Colic, my newborn nightmare tummy issues!
Oh my god, If I only knew how awful it was to breastfeed a colicy infant ahead of time! My little angel is only 4weeks old, and she has been put on probiotics(bacteria to help digestion) because she cannot stomach any formula at all. I am breast feeding,(Breastmilk is the only thing she can drink) but I need to fortify my milk to be 24cal,/per oz.(PUMPING) and I am supplimenting with formula whenever I cannot produce enough milk to feed her. My husband and I are exhausted, my little girl cries for hours at a time, then when we finally get her to sleep I have to pump breast milk for her next feeding and fortify it.By the time I'm done pumping she's awake crying again! Has anyone else out there had to deal with these types of pumping, colic, and exhaustion issues? How did you get through it? And do you have any pointers for me to make life easier and to get more sleep? I feel like a failure as a mom because my milk supply keeps going down because I am stressed out and not able to sleep for more than an hour at a time.I so desperately want to help my little girl but there's nothing that seems to comfort her. HELP! HELP! HELP!I'm about to have a melt down, between calling the lactation consultant, the doctors, and anyone that can help watch my 16mo. old son while I'm trying to help my daughter, life is HARD right now!

How do I deal with a Grandmother who over-steps our boundries?
I have a 14month old son and I am pregnant with a little girl who is due in a few weeks.Recently my son has started to call (my mother) his Grandmother, MOMMY! I spent 5 hours at work on sunday only to come home to a son who wanted nothing to do with me. His grandmother totally ignored his nap and feeding schedule during that time and he was super cranky. His grandmothers excuse was "he didn't want to sleep, we wer playing all day"I was alittle annoyed at that point, then came the straw that broke the camels back! I tried to take my son outside to wait for his daddy to get home, and he started to throw a tantrum, sat on the floor crying, and he pointed at his grandmother and said "MOMMY!"I was pissed! She did not even correct him! The least she could have done is say "NO, i'm Grammy"My son is starting to totally lose respect for me as his mother and I have no choice but to work at least a few hours a week for spending money. Everything with his grandmother has become a competition! She doesnt respect our parenting plan and the baby sees that so he doesnt respect us!I'm afraid things are going to get worse once I have my baby girl in a few weeks. I need the help of my family, I have no one else, but she's always around being pushy and trying to tell my husband and I what to do! It causes tension, and a lot of arguments. ANY sugestions on how to handle this without Grammy throwing a fit (like she usually does)?Oh ya, that's the best part! Everytime we say something she doesnt like, she storms around banging things, peels out in the car and leaves, basically throws a temper tantrum like a child even though she's 57years old! Then she refuses to help when we do ask for help, she ignores her grandson, which he doesnt understand, and she is VERY NASTY to my husband and I. What do I do?

31weeks and not gaining weight!
I'm getting worried, my appetite is awful, and I eat a decent amount but I'm not gaining weight. In fact the doctor said I lost 2 lbs. I weighed myself at home and discovered I lost another 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks! Is the baby in danger? Has anyone else lost weight in their 3rd trimester? My pre-pregnancy weight was 135, now I'm 148, if I don't gain the 25-30 pounds recommended will the baby be tiny and not healthy? I am sooo scared that something is wrong and my doctor is asking to see me more often now. He hasn't said anything bad, but he's telling me to rest a lot more. Any ideas on how to plump up the baby without plumping up my butt instead! I want to be fit enough to have a smooth delivery but I need to get a balance, but HOW?

Anyone else feeling kind of frustraited since becoming prego?
I'm not sure if it's just hormones but I feel lonely, and fat! My weight is right at what it should be for the pregnancy but my husband doesn't look at me like the quote "beautiful mommy to be" that some women experience with their partners. He seems grossed out by my belly instead of interested in the baby inside. I try to share feelings and he jokes about it. I try to get him involved and he shys away. He is a wonderful daddy to my 1yr old son. It seems like with this pregnancy he's a little more. . .Scared? Any suggestions on how to get him more involved and interested without him thinking I'm going nutts? I've asked him to feel our baby moving, but he's not patient enough or comfortable enough to keep his hand still so he never feels her and it's FRUSTRATING to me! Please if anyone else is dealing with this type of stuff let me hear it! I have no girlfriends with kids to talk with so I'm out here on my own in this.

Here's a Funny story from Birthing class, anyone else have a story too?
When pregnant with my son (who's now 1yr old) my husband & I decided to go to a local child birth class. I sat through the moments of fathers-to-be snickering at boob pictures and laughing quietly when the instructor talked about vaginas. My husband would wisper things under his breath to me while the instructor talked. The movie of different types of live births were taking place on the screen in front of us and my husband whispered what are we naming the placenta if it weighs as much as a baby it deserves a name? I shook my head no and rolled my eyes at him. Then the worst thing that could happen did, the instructor stopped class, probably annoyed at my husbands whispering and asked what he said. I hoped he would say something intellegent but NOOO he announced to the class that he wanted to pick a name for the placenta too. I flushed red and burried my face in my hands wishing that the men in class didn't find it so funny. I got glared at by the instructor and other women in the class. At the end of the night we all had to put our pillows and blankets on the floor to relax and do our breathing exercises. I had hoped the incident in the other room would be forgotten. The instructor Started saying breath in, breath out while moving her hands like an orchestra conductor in front of the room. She spoke in a voice you'd use when addressing kindergarden children and it started to get annoying. My husband kept making me laugh by mocking her every time her back was turned. Trying to hold in my laughs and breath at the same time was about to make me explode. Then she asked the husbands to breath along with us. Just as she was about to say inhale for the second time my husband let a loud fart pierce the silence of the room. I lost it and began to laugh so hard i was crying and I couldn't breath. The two of us were bright red, eyes tearing, and couldn't stop laughing! The couples next to us started laughing, then soon the whole room was laughing. The smell of his gas swept through the room while the instructor kept trying to tell everyone to breath in, breath out, breath in! Breath was the last thing anyone wanted to do! She desperately tried to keep the class together but it was hopeless at this point. We just picked up our blanket and pillows and left the room. I was to embarassed to return to the last class. Now that we are 7 months pregnant with a little girl I thought about a refresher course but the dreaded thought of my husbands jokes makes me cringe.
